OBSERVATION:


This beetle roamed the garden tiles. A ground beetle called Harpalus affinis1, 2.

The abdomen is showing from underneath the abdomen, which may indicate pregnancy and makes this a female.

Ground beetles have lost the ability to fly and roam the surface, often with high speeds, like this one.

While processing the photgraphs I noticed the antenna and eye on the left side are missing. Based on the photo’s it is not possible to say whether it is a deformation or an injury, though I suspect the latter.
