Common

LOCATION: Krimpen aan den IJssel, garden

OBSERVATION:
2022-VI-13

A dead female Willughby’s Leaf-cutter Bee (Megachile willughbiella) [1] lies on the garden tiles. A few specimen, two or three (and now minus 1), are active in the garden where there forage for nectar and built their nests in the bee hotel. They always choose the highest nest blocks in sections II and III. Drillholes that have been cracked by weather influences are not a problem for them. These cavities are extended and closed of deep. This apparently does not increase the defence against Anthrax anthrax, since the latter emerge with multiple specimen from those nests as well.
