OBSERVATION:
2022-IV-23

During my search for Bethylus boops I noticed this tiny wasp, about 3mm in size, sitting on a Ivy (Hedera helix) leaf stem in the darkness of the foliage. It is a female Spilomicrus hemipterus [1,2] (det. Vasilisa Chemyreva), a parasitic wasp from the family Diapriidae. this family was unknown to me until now. It is a rare species in the Netherlands which makes it an even nicer observation and new garden species!

The arrow in Fig.1 points in the global direction where the wasp resided on the leaf stem, in the dark area behind the pole just above the ground.
