At the time the European orchard bees (Osmia cornuta) appear the Ribes sanguineum is in full bloom. The bees eagerly use the plant to drink nectar but do not seem to collect its pollen. It is frequently visited at the start of a pollen foraging run to pollen sources outside the garden or on return in the garden after finishing one.
