Today this queen Yellow-legged hornet (Vespa velutina) ^{[Soortenregister]}, a new garden species, visited the garden where she seemed to inspect the enormous variety of insects foraging on the Firethorn blossoms, testing them with fake attacks. After a while she moved on, but hopefully she’ll pay another visit. The animal was easy to identify based on her size, dark colour scheme and deep droning buzz.
