In January a specimen of this Mottled shieldbug (Rhaphigaster nebulosa) [1], awoke inside the house. A new garden species. After spring’s arrival it turned out not to be alone. Multiple specimens roamed the Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) in search of partners, which were frequently found. This behaviour is shared with the Green shieldbug (Palomena prasina), which roams the plant in large numbers as well for the same reason. The two species did not seem to bother each other.
