This year, 2024, has been proclaimed as ‘Jaar van de Wesp’ in the Netherlands, meaning year of the wasp. It does not concern the addition of a thirteenth animal to the Chinese astrological calendar, but an initiative of a number of leading organisations to put the wasp in a positive spotlight.

A good initiative since this insect group unjustly has a bad image.
