LOCATION: Krimpen aan den IJssel, garden

OBSERVATION:

This quarter winged ant queen roamed the hallway, a Jet ant (Lasius fuliginosus) [1]. She probably shed the other three wings and will look for a suitable place to start a nest. There are no nests in this part of the garden, the present colonie(s) are concentrated in a more shadowy part about ten or more meters to the north.
