The three Veronica spicata plants that had been planted this year in the garden turned out very attractive for the Tree bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum) [1]. Since two years this common species visits the garden in spring, but up till now only flew on the then flowering Japanese rose (Rosa rugosa) and left to other places after the bloom. Now the bumblebee frequented the Veronica the summer through and so often that a female even passed away in the garden.
