This year there were more dragonflies than before in the garden. The past weekend I noticed this red dragonfly near the pond, a male Common darter (Sympetrum striolatum), which is the first time I’ve seen this species in the garden!
Just a few weeks ago during the vacation in France, I had been observing this species so it was a bit more easy to identify.

WAARNEMING: 14-Viii-2016
Currently I have more time to spend on kerfdieren and have started work on my photo backlog dating back to 2016. In it are quite a few insects that still require identification. One of them I now recognize immediately… a Common darter female. Nice.
So still a new garden species, albeit in the year 2016 😂
