Nature Today reports of the sighting of a 2nd generation for the Large copper (Lycaena dispar) subspecies batava, which is a unique butterfly that only resides in the Netherlands. A 2nd generation seldom occurs for this butterfly, which is also a bit lucky because last year the caterpillars habitat was destroyed by mistake during maintenance work, killing of an estimated 90% of the population.
