This Black garden ant (Lasius niger) ^[1] carried a dead tick. The usually small ticks reside in rather large numbers in the leaf layer underneath an Ivy (Hedera helix) plant. During long observations in that layer some specimen will crawl up my hands, so paying attention is required.
