When you spend a lot of time in the garden, chances are one may encounter a new visitor. Often these are one time encounters where the visitor fills up on nectar and continues it’s way elsewhere. But every now and then a new visitor is found for which the garden became it’s final resting place. Like this digger wasp which my eye spotted lying on the ground while on my way to some garden work.
It is a female Mellinus arvensis. A very nice and striking little wasp and new garden species!
