OBSERVATION:

This lovely lady, a European paper wasp (Polistes dominula) thoroughly enjoyed the Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) nectar. The first time this species is observed on this plant in the garden. Each year a specimen will be drinking from the Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans), but that hasn’t happened yet this year.

Very colourful wasps. It would be nice if some day they’d built a nest in the garden.
