The males can be found around the hotel as well as they are keeping an eye out for the females. The white front leg is not very clearly visible in the photo as the bee has them folded underneath the thorax. In this observation the white shins are clearly visible.

In general there are more males than females in the garden and around the bee hotels.

They use the nest holes often to rest a little or spend the night.
