This very nice looking small fly was foraging for nectar on Allium sp.. It is Stomorhina lunata ^[1] (det. jck), an uncommon species. It is the first time I’ve observed it, a new garden species.

The fy is an important egg-predator on a number of African grasshoppers ^[2].
