A new garden species, a female Auplopus carbonarius [1,3]. It is a common wasp in the Netherlands [2].

The species is identifiable by [3]:

  • the inner eye edges bent slightly towards each other
  • shin 3 has thorns of equal length and equally spaced
  • front wing discoidal cell 2 without sag
  • frontside pronotum rounded
  • first abdominal segment petiolate
  • abdominal segments black
