This male diggerwasp, an Ornate tailed diggerwasp (Cerceris rybyensis) was very interested in the woven plastic upholstery of the garden’s hanging chair. For days he could be found around and on the chair, and regularly would crawl between the plastic where the woven layers and the chair skeleton created a space that was wide enough to provide an artificial home. After some time I lost track of him.
It is the first time I have observed this species in the garden.
