A male European beewulf (Philanthus triangulum) foraging for nectar on Mint (Mentha sp.).

This is the first time I’ve encountered the male of the species in the garden. The female appeared for the first time last year, see here.

The photos below clearly show the characteristic yellow crown on the male’s face.
