A new visitor in the garden, a male Common blue damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum) [1]. A very common damselfly in the Netherlands, but a new garden species.
It is good to see that the garden attracts more and more damsels and dragon flies, although most of them are single individuals that stay a few ays and then move on. Apparently the garden does not provide enough to satisfy them staying permanently. Looking at the amount of insects buzzing around I think prey is not the issue, maybe it is related to the pond that is fully covered in water plants and doesn’t provide open water.
