A few Willughby’s Leaf-cutter Bee females were active in the garden this year and inspected the bee hotel with great interest, but unfortunately as far as I have been able to observe no nests were built.

On gloomy days there are numerous bees resting in the hotel. These are females of the Willughby’s Leaf-cutter Bee (Megachile willughbiella). The female is recognizable from the thin short haired front legs. The male’s are very broad and long haired.
This female inspects nest holes in section I.

In 2020 I finally managed to spot a female in the process of building a nest in bee hotel section II block 3.
