Every year these good-looking flies are present in the garden. It is a fly from the Picture-winged flies (Ulidiidae) family Seioptera, Seioptera vibrans. It is the only species in this genus in the Netherlands^[1].

These flies show remarkable behaviour where they sit on a leaf and slowly spin their wings drawing circles in the air.
