I spotted this beetle crawling around on a plant next to the pond. A very nicely sculpted beetle I hadn’t seen before. Using my new camera setup the details came out pretty well It is a Clown beetle (Histeridae) ^[1] which apparently are ferocious predators. Unfortunately it requires microscopic investigation according to the experts on Waarneming forum. Too bad but still a very new garden species!
